It should be noted that Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia joined the Schengen area in 2007 and provide great opportunities for obtaining a temporary residence permit through investment. For example, it is possible to obtain a residence permit in Latvia for up to 5 years by investing at least EUR 250,000 in real estate or at least EUR 280,000 in the subordinated capital of a Latvian credit institution (more details here).
